The red headed stepchild of pro football, defeated the Atlanta Falcons and its own history last night and became a contender in the 2009 Superbowl. The Arizona Cardinals have the distinction of being one of two original charter members of the NFL, and their history is long as well as colorful. Frustratingly, aside from a listing of years, there is no “birthdate” to hang on the Cardinals, so we are forced to clues and rectification to fix a date on the inception of this team.
When the 2009 Superbowl kicks off at 6:20 PM EST, Sunday, February 1, in Tampa, Florida, the timing will coincide with the phenomenon known to astrology as Mercury retrograde going direct. Mercury has completed it's retrograde into Capricorn and is moving forward once again.
Mercury turns direct again at 22° Capricorn degrees on February 1
To those who study the ancient belief system of astrology, the planet Mercury rules communication and transportation and in sports Movement and agility - out thinking the opponent. All sorts of related areas come under the influence of Mercury, such as play calling, the QB, officiating, and modern technology of the whole game communication devices and play calling, Mercury going direct indicate how a range of practical, everyday transactions flow and how well the team communicates and also a change in tide or momentum.
This year's Superbowl is scheduled for the day Mercury retrograde session ends, not the date it starts, so we will be pulling away from the influence, but astrologers agree that no one is out of the woods and influences don't always calm down until a few days later.

Mercury turns direct again at 22° Capricorn degrees on February 1
The interesting trick is that the 'karmic condition' of Capricorn 23 is Capricorn 22: A General Revealing Nobility of Character by Accepting Defeat Gracefully. This degree often talks of the need to let go of something, to say sorry, to accept a situation as it is, to know when to quit the fighting, to accept what is and what isn't. By showing 'nobility of character', we get the 'two awards for bravery in combat'.
SABIAN (CAPRICORN 22°):
"BY ACCEPTING DEFEAT GRACEFULLY, A GENERAL REVEALS NOBILITY OF CHARACTER."
KEYNOTE: The realization that one may grow through defeat as well as, and perhaps more than, through success.
While the preceding symbol referred to the drive toward success in culturally organized collective endeavors, this one presents us with the possibility of turning apparent external defeat into an inner spiritual achievement. Much depends on the quality of the will and the inner integrity of the person.
At this second stage we find what seems to be a paradox, but the spiritual life is always paradoxical.
SABIAN (CAPRICORN 23°):
"A SOLDIER RECEIVING TWO AWARDS FOR BRAVERY IN COMBAT."
KEYNOTE: The reward offered by society for the fulfillment of individual responsibility.
The fact that "two" awards are emphasized makes us believe that this may refer subtly to the recognition by the community that, whether he succeeded or failed, an individual who discharged his duty nobly under unusual circumstances is entitled to the respect and appreciation of the collectivity he served so well. What is implied here is a constant give-and-take between fans and the individual person. Each one should be able to trust the other.
This third symbol of the fifty-ninth five-fold sequence extracts, as it were, a common element from the two preceding scenes. The Keyword here is RECOMPENSE, i.e. a compensation for a well-done performance — a balancing of accounts.
We often need to be acknowledged for the issues or causes we’ve fought for and the battles we’ve endured, whether we come out on top, or not. In your situation, your efforts may be recognized with some show of appreciation or compensation. It may be that you need to recognize another’s achievement, behavior, or ‘Bravery’. Perhaps someone actually made it through by admitting defeat and pulling out when the time was right. If we’ve been wronged by society in some way, and shown ourselves to be strong and able to stand up to difficult or threatening situations, there may need to be reparations paid, money or rewards of some kind to make up for any trauma, lost opportunities or loss of calls (officials).
There’s a warning though, of the feeling of being desperate to win, regardless of the cost. Sometimes people will fight over who is the most deserving for being battle-scarred and who’s the braver or the stronger or there’s a struggle over who deserves the ‘Award’; who put in the most effort, and who has come out the victor in a situation. It can be discouraging and disappointing if we feel we have to go into ‘Combat’ to prove the merit of our deeds, our life or our beliefs. Sometimes we have to cut our losses before we end up plunging into ‘Combat’ once again. Was the outcome worth what went into it? If you can see the ‘Awards’ in a rewarding light, however they manifest, you can turn your life into a victory showing your power, strength and bravery. -

www.digitalcitizen.ca/2009/01...per.html
On Nov 3 2008, the Washington Redskins prophesized Barack Obama's election win by losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers in their final home game before the election. Now that Barack Obama has defeated John McCain from Arizona, is the astro "logical" Super Bowl pick is for the Pittsburgh Steelers to defeat the Arizona Cardinals? -

Tarot reading
Who has a Better chance at winning?– Pittsburgh Steelers – The Chariot
It is here that he comes across a charioteer, standing in his gold and silver chariot, his black and white steeds at rest. "You seem a victorious warrior," the Fool remarks. "Tell me, what is the best way to defeat an enemy?" The Charioteer nods out at the ocean. "Have you ever been swimming in the water and been trapped in that tide which pulls you out to sea? If you try to swim forward, head-on, you go nowhere. You swim forward, the tide pulls you back and, if you tire yourself out, you drown. The only way to win without sapping all your energy is to swim parallel to shore, and come in slowly, diagonally. So, too, when fighting in a chariot. You win by coming up alongside that which you wish to defeat." The warrior nods to his beasts. "Your steeds keep the wheels turning, but it is your control and direction that brings victory.
Who has a Better chance at winning?– Arizona Cardinals – Five of Wands
There is competition, others with just as much clout, similar ideas, equal energy and focus and drive and ambition.
This is a card predicting conflict and power struggles, smooth sailing meeting choppy waters. Inner doubts and fears will arise, leading to confusion and panic. And the question it asks is "How can I stand out?" The answer is, ultimately, that one learns to stand out by entering the fray and sizing up the competition. Only by doing this can the Querent learn how to change, what to cut away or keep, in order to be unique and succeed. If you fear competition and run from it, you will never succeed at anything. -

INDIANS MAKING CAMP IN NEW TERRITORY
New territory has been found and there is the need to acclimatise, adjust quickly and settle in. This 'new territory' can be manifested in a physical, emotional or spiritual framework. Whichever it is, you need to feel at home in an inner and outer sense. You may feel a creeping sense of unease if you find it hard to relax in this new environment.
Settling in. Barging in. Walk-ins. Concerns with territory. Immigration.
The Caution: Moving into or invading another person's territory or putting up with things when one should move.

VIRGO 6
A MERRY-GO-ROUND
You may find that a situation keeps returning to the same place without progressing, but each time you return, you have had the opportunity of looking at other possibilities. You must make a decision: do you want to keep going round and round?
Ever repeating circles of activity. Motion sickness. Habits that are hard to break. Getting on, then wanting off. Getting off, then wanting on.
The Caution: Repeating the same mistakes OR bouncing around from one thing to another and not progressing or getting anywhere.
